MINUTES
Delta Kappa Gamma Business Meeting Minutes
January 10, 1996
Call to order 8:05 pm
A moment of silence was observed in remembrance of Alice Marks, who died in December.
Minutes from the December Board meeting were accepted and approved as read.
Committee Reports
- 1. Research- Chris Smith volunteered to take over June Chartrand’s "Research" sub-committee work.
- 2. Personal Growth and Development- Barb Broadley has arranged for Mary Connolly (astrologer) to come to our March meeting.
- 3. Legislation- Nancy Bielik reported on graded insurance premiums, restructuring of MPSERS Board, and defined contributions. Her full report is in this month’s bulletin.
- 4. Birthday Dinner- May 8th at Kiernan’s in Dearborn. Carol Holland has arranged for a Psychic to join us for and after the dinner to discuss the Power of Positive Thinking.
- 5. Music- Colleen Retherford has volunteered to take over June Chartrand’s Music sub-committee job.
Society Business
- 1. Nominations- The slate of officers for the 1996-1998 term was accepted as presented:
- President Alice Duke
- 1st Vice President Shirley Walhstrom
- 2nd Vice President Mary Jo Dreffs
- Recording Secretary Mary Foster
- Corres. Secretary Jackie Smart
Communications
- 1. Newsletter- Jackie Smart would like to do a "Retirees" section in the bulletin. Send her any information for the bulletin.
- 2. Empathy- $100.00 will be sent to the First United Methodist Church in Dearborn, in remembrance of Alice Marks.
- 3. Historian- Where are the scrapbooks, photo albums??? Call Alice Duke or Mary Jo Dreffs if you know.
- 4. World Fellowship- Debbie Ervin will take over Alice Mark’s World Fellowship sub-committee job. If you have the globe bank that Alice used to collect quarters in, please call Debbie or bring to the February meeting.
New Business
- 1. New Member Presentation- The following individuals were presented for invitation as new members:
- Micki Huysken, Elizabeth Karbownik
- Carol Palk, Judy Handley
- Mary Hendrien, Donna Colaianne
All were voted on positively. February 7 will be the meeting for new members at the Water Club Grill, Inc. Dinner is at 5:30, meeting is at 7:00. Members are asked to bring 30 copies of a favorite recipe on 8.5x11 paper.
- 2. Please call Mary Jo Dreffs or bring to the February meeting if you have a name for consideration to receive the Friend of Education award to be presented at the Birthday Dinner. Guidelines are in this month’s bulletin.
- 3. A motion was passed for everyone to receive new Handbooks
