Gamma Alpha Bulletin: GAB

Colleen Retherford, our new Music Chairman, is getting prepared for the March meeting. She has tapes of several Delta Kappa Gamma songs played in a key we all can sing.

Judy Handley, one of our new prospective members, won the door prize of a Delta Kappa Gamma notepad at the February meeting. Who will win next month’s valuable prize? Only the psychic knows!

June Chartrand has not left Gamma Alpha as reported in last month’s minutes. There has been a computer mix-up with the Arizona chapter she attends and she will remain active with our chapter. She may even be able to make an make an appearance at the Birthday Dinner.

Our personal travel consultant, Marie Canzoneri, is ready to book a cruise for your upcoming holidays.

You may be wondering why you should get on the World Wide Web. Here are three sites I have discovered and found very useful.

NASA’s QUEST PROJECT

http://naic.nasa.gov/naic/guide/templates/quest.html
A one stop shop for K-12 teachers. Find links to teacher resources on Grants and Other People’s Money, Teaching and Learning With the Web, International Schools Online, and Online Resources for Educators.

AIMS

http://204.161.33.100/
The Activities Integrating Math and Science site features a searchable database of hands-on activities integrating math and science in grades K-9. At this site you will find brainteasing puzzles ( a new one is added each month), plus ways to make math more human by incorporating history into math lessons.

EXPLORER

http://server2.greatlakes.k12.mi.us/
The Explorer database consists of multimedia resources for active learning in the areas of math and natural science. It’s a treasure trove of lesson plans for innovative and fun learning experiences.
