Meet Alice Duke

President Alice Duke is September’s M.O.M. She was also chosen as Gamma Alpha’s Chapter Woman of Distinction for 1996 and was honored in Battle Creek and at our Birthday Dinner in May. Alice joined Gamma Alpha on April 14, 1984. Esther Loskowske and Sandy Becher were her sponsors. Alice has been very active in Gamma Alpha from the beginning. She has served on many committees and has been chairman of Personal Growth and Development and Professional Affairs. She has chaired two auctions and helped plan one of the Birthday Dinners. Alice also found time to work on one of our seminars and other committees which I won’t list here. She is currently serving her second term as President of Gamma Alpha.

Alice has been married for thirty-one years to the same man, Russ. They have two children, Robert and Nicole, and five grandchildren. Nicole is expecting in October. Alice also has a dog and two cats who are still at home!

Alice graduated from Eastern in 1966 with a BS and earned her MA in 1968. She has been teaching for twenty-seven years for Wayne-Westland Schools. Alice has served on many committees in her school district, including Metric, Report Card, Math/Science, School Improvement and other curriculum development committees. She has taught all grades from first through sixth, but many of her years have been spent in third grade. She hopes to remain in this position for the next three years until she retires to the home she and Russ have built in St. Helen in northern Michigan.

Alice has been very active in her church, the First United Methodist Church of Wayne. She also served on various committees and has chaired the Worship Committee and served as a Youth Leader for a number of years. As you can, see Alice is one busy lady.

Alice says, "I find Delta Kappa Gamma most rewarding both professionally and personally. I think the fellowship of this group has been a special part of my life and will continue to be in the future."
