Gamma Alpha Bulletin

Vol 17 No 4. January 1997

President's Message

I hope everyone has been enjoying their well deserved holiday break. As you know we canceled the December Executive Board meeting because my husband was taken to the hospital. Fortunately, it was not a heart attack as we suspected. We went to our home away from home in St. Helen for some stress free R&R during the break. I am definitely looking forward to a healthier '97! Because of the canceled Executive Board meeting, I am rescheduling it for January 8 at 4:30 at Water Club Grill. This will be before the regularly scheduled meeting on January 8th.

Chapter Chatter

Mary Jo Dreffs' phone number is wrong in the yearbook again! It is 810-437-9754.

Alice Duke received good news from her oncologist on the night of our holiday auction. She is in 100% remission! Great news, Alice.

Grace Morgan gave me the final numbers from the Holiday Auction. We made $1,513 from the auction, raffle and donations from members unable to attend. The Personal Growth Committee (Marie Canzoneri (Ch.), Carol Holland, Barb Broadley, Geri Stone, Debbie Ervin, Bonnie Schweitzer, and Joan Lyon) would like to thank everyone for their wonderful donations for the auction. There were lots of great things that started "bidding" wars. The proceeds from the auction go to Gamma Alpha's scholarship fund. Sorry, no photos from the auction this month.

State Stats

April 25-27, 1997…This year's State Convention will be held at the Amway Grand Am in Grand Rapids. Information about registration will be in the winter Wolverine.

Gamma Alpha has received two more e-mail messages regarding our on-line monthly bulletin. (I hope many of you have had a chance to find it on the Internet.) Here goes:

  • The first is from Anne Medearis, Xi State First Vice President, Omicron Chapter, Tennessee:

Your audio message is very impressive. We will be placing a link from our home page to yours. I am delighted to see other states using the Internet. This will truly connect us internationally! I look forward to corresponding with you via the Internet and hope to meet you in '98 in Texas.

  • The other message was from Kathy Glaes, Editorial Assistant for Delta Kappa Gamma Society International:

Just wanted to let you know your chapter web site is great! What a wonderful way to communicate with your members and to let others know who you are and what Delta Kappa Gamma is! Do you have a list of members' e-mail addresses? If you do, would you mind sharing it with us? We are trying to compile an e-mail list of members.

Also could you publish the International Headquarters e-mail addresses in your on-line (and paper) chapter newsletter or make them a permanent part of your web site?

So, for interested parties soceditr@onr.com is the e-mail address if you have questions or concerns about Society publications, items for the Delta Kappa Gamma NEWS, or questions about submitting articles, art or poetry to the Bulletin. Jane Posten, Communications Administrator, will answer your questions.

The address for questions about general Society concerns, such as scholarships, membership, travel or programs and projects is societyd@onr.com. Those questions will be answered by Dr. Theresa Fechek, Executive Coordinator or Dr. Isabel Wheeler, Program Services Administrator.

If you have an e-mail address that I can send to International, please e-mail me at: ismart@rust.net

Deadline for articles for the February Bulletin is January 20. Send your copy to Jackie Smart.
