Meet Grace Morgan

Grace Morgan is this month's M.O.M. Grace was supposed to be initiated into Gamma Alpha in the spring of 1980. Sherry Green and Grace worked together at Madison at that time. Sherry left to go and set up for the initiation. Grace was to follow shortly, but was delayed when one of the parents from her class came looking for his son. The child never came home after school. By the time the situation was resolved and Grace arrived at the meeting, the initiation was over. It was decided that Grace would be initiated in the fall.

Grace's teaching career has been spent mainly at Madison School in Westland. She did her student teaching at Madison in fourth grade. She taught in Taylor, Michigan for six months and then returned to Madison for thirty years. She has taught first, second and fourth grades and finished her teaching career in kindergarten.

Grace says that Gamma Alpha has had many members who have taught kindergarten and junior college and many areas in between and she has enjoyed the friendship and interaction with all of the women in our chapter.

Since retiring, Grace has developed an interest in doing stained glass. She works five days a month in a stained glass shop. She is also serving on the Board of Directors for her condo association. She has more time in helping with the grounds maintenance of the Memorial Garden and the flower beds at church.. She also helps the church treasurer and organizes Sunday school materials.

Grace missed the teaching and the children, so she does some substitute teaching. Grace says, "I do not miss the paperwork, planning, staff meetings etc. I am managing to keep busy and out of trouble."
